CanalCam Help

There are different types of problems, so please look for what you see:

Can not connect to server While this can be caused by incorrect firewall setup, it may also be because I am not currently running the webcam software on my computer - I do use it for other stuff, which sometimes clashes with Windows Media Encoder.
Black Picture Like most cameras, mine needs light to show a picture, but it's not very sensitive, so even though it's not night, it could still show a black image. Occasionally Windows Media Player does not work properly, and cause a black image, so try clicking the play button again.
Nothing Happens when I click on the live webcam link There is a good chance that your browser is setup incorrectly. The easiest way of viewing the webcam in this case is to right click on the link, and save the ".asf" file, which is a Windows Media redirection file. Right click here to try it now

You could also try to play the file manually by typing "http://81.168.115.41:8080" into "open url.." in the file menu of Windows Media Player

Windows Media appears, tries to download a codec, but still doesn't play the file The webcam uses Windows Media 9 video. If you have not installed this, then older versions of Windows Media will try to download the codec. Sometimes this does not work. Please download Wndows Media 9 or later.
I've got the newest version of Windows Media Player, but it only says "buffering..." You web connection speed may be to slow for the stream, so the buffer never gets quite full. Either hope I reduce the bitrate (occassionally I might increase it), or get broadband.

It maybe that a firewall, or slow part of the internet is causing a problem, or the server might be overloaded.

Can not connect to server error My webserver may be turned off, down for maintenance, or I am cruising the canals! I Can't wait until wireless broadband for less than £20 a month is available across the UK!
